FIELD MILES
A little help for the road.
Answers for the Field Miles beta, from signing in to checking a recorded drive.
Get beta support
If you installed Field Miles through TestFlight, open TestFlight → Field Miles → Send Beta Feedback. You can also contact the person who invited you to the beta through your existing invitation channel.
In Field Miles, Settings → Report a bug lets you describe the problem, preview a report, and choose where to save or share it. Nothing is sent automatically. Include what you expected, what happened, your app build, and whether the issue happened with the screen locked. Leave passwords, recovery codes, account tokens, and private addresses out of the report.
This beta does not yet publish a separate support mailbox. For a privacy question, use the beta feedback or invitation channel above. Account deletion is available inside Settings and does not require contacting support.
Sign-in and your own account
Do I need Site Clock or ChatGPT to use Field Miles?
No. Choose Create account and use your own Field Miles email and password. You can save favorites, import trips, and track personal and business miles. Site Clock is optional. The earlier beta has a one-time record-transfer option for existing users.
I forgot my password or sign-in failed
On the sign-in screen, choose Forgot password? Use a recovery code. Enter the recovery code saved when you created the account or last changed its password. Field Miles does not currently send password-reset emails. If you normally use Site Clock, choose Use my Site Clock account with that account's credentials.
Record the exact error without including credentials. Avoid creating a second account if you are trying to recover an existing mileage log.
Automatic tracking
Does it record with the phone locked?
The installed phone app starts automatic tracking after sign-in and the initial location permission setup. Allow precise location, keep tracking enabled, and open the app regularly to sync. Use Pause when you want it off; it stays paused until you resume.
Reopen Field Miles after a force-quit, phone restart, or interrupted recording. The app does not guarantee capture while terminated. A browser tab or home-screen web shortcut must stay visible and cannot reliably record with the screen locked.
A drive is missing or the distance looks wrong
- Open the Trips screen and expand recording status. Check permission, precise location, and whether tracking is paused.
- Reconnect to the internet and use Settings → Recording & records → Retry sync. Wait for queued locations to upload before signing out.
- Review the trip for a recording gap. Very short movements can fall below drive-detection thresholds. You can add a missing trip or correct its mileage manually.
Do not drive while reviewing or changing settings. Physical-phone background behavior and mileage accuracy are still being tested in this beta.
Why is a work trip still marked To review?
Uncertain locations, incomplete recordings, overlapping places, and home-to-work travel need your decision. Open the trip to see its explanation, then choose the category and business purpose. A business label organizes your records; it does not establish tax deductibility.
Favorites and imports
How do I bring places or trips from another app?
Use Settings → Bring your records. Choose favorite places, trips, or the Everlance importer. Upload a CSV or JSON file, review the preview and any warnings, then confirm. Everlance requires its Trips CSV with Miles and YYYY-MM-DD dates. Export smaller date ranges for files over 500 trips or 500 KB.
Imported trips are manual entries. Routes, map links, receipt images, and GPS evidence are not transferred. Repeating the same file skips previously imported content; changing source values may create a new record.
What happens to inactive or deleted Site Clock jobsites?
The address stays in Field Miles for future visits, with its existing trip rule. Past jobsites remain searchable in Saved places and trip location menus. Disconnecting Site Clock keeps the saved copies. Field Miles never deletes your earlier mileage because a Site Clock job changed status.
Export or delete your records
Reports can export personal, business, or all trips for a selected date range and vehicle. Settings → Download my records saves a JSON copy of saved trips, places, and preferences. Check the saved file before relying on it; raw capture batches and unfinished recordings are not included.
To close your account, choose Settings → Delete account, verify your identity, and confirm deletion. The process removes your active Field Miles records and this device's pending recordings. Your Site Clock account remains separate. Other devices, exported files, and operational backups have separate limits described in Privacy.
If deletion is interrupted, reopen the app on the same device and use the pending deletion screen to retry. Keep the page open until it confirms completion. Older native builds may need an update before they can erase the local recording queue safely.
